Answer:

Number of children tickets sold on that Saturday is 215 while

number of adult tickets sold on that Saturday is 570

Explanation:

Let x = number of children ticket

Let y = number of adult ticket

One Saturday the theater Sold 785 tickets. This means

x+y=785 - - - - - -1

785 tickets sold for $3280

The amount which the movie theatre charge for adult ticket = $5

The amount which the movie theatre charge for children ticket = $2

2x + 5y = $3280 - - - - - -2

From equation 1, x = 785-y

Put x = 785-y in equation 2

2(785-y) + 5y = 3280

1570-2y+5y= 3280

3y = 3280-1570=1710

y = 1710/3 = 570

x = 785- y = 785-570= 215

Number of children tickets sold on that Saturday is 215 while

number of adult tickets sold on that Saturday is 570
