Answer:

Ace give to the waitperson amount of $ 2.25 as a tip

Explanation:

Given as :

The total amount paid to waitperson = $ 17.25

I.e Amount of food + amount for tip = $ 17.25

Let the amount of food = $ x

So, The amount of tip = 15% of $ x

$ x + 15% of $ x = $ 17.25

Or,
(115)/(100) × $x = $ 17.25

Or, 1.15 × $x = $ 17.25

∴ x =
(17.25)/(1.15) = $ 15

So, The Amount of food = x =$ 15

And The Amount of waitperson = 15% × x = 15% × 15 = $ 2.25

Hence, Ace give to the waitperson amount of $ 2.25 as a tip Answer
