You are going on a field trip in a school bus. A special detector placed on one of the busses tires counts the number of rotations completed by the tire during the journey. The tire's diameter is 1 meter, and it made 8000 rotations during the trip. How far did it travel? Round to the nearest meter

You are going on a field trip in a school bus. The buses traveled 25132.8 meters approximately.

Solution:

Given, you are going on a field trip in a school bus.

The tire's diameter is 1 meter

The tire made 8000 rotations during the trip

We know that radius is half of diameter

\text { Radius of tire }=\frac{\text {diameter}}{2}=(1)/(2) \text { meter }

Circumference of tire is
2 \pi r

We have to find how far did it travel

\text { Distance traveled }=\text { number of rotations made } * \text { circumference of tire}

\begin{array}{l}{=8000 * 2 \pi r} \\\\ {=8000 * 2 \pi * (1)/(2)} \\\\ {=8000 * 3.14=25132.741}\end{array}

Hence, buses traveled 25132.8 meters approximately.
