Darion needs 20 pieces of string. 3/8 inch in length. He cut a 4 7/8 inch piece of string into pieces that are 3/8 of an inch long each. How many more pieces of string does he need?

If he cuts a 47.8 inch piece of string into pieces that are 3/8 of an inch long each, then he will get,


[ \frac {(47)/(8)}{(3)/(8)} ]

=
[(47)/(8)]

= 15 number of strings.

So he does need, (20 - 5) = 5 strings more each of 3/8 inch of length.
