Whenever two lines intersect with each other, the angle formed between them is called Vertically Opposite Angle.

Here, line l intersects the traversal so,

the angle formed between them ∠1 and ∠4 are vertically opposite.

So, ∠1 = ∠4

Also, as ∠1 + ∠3 = ∠2 + ∠4 = 180° (LINEAR PAIRS)

So, ∠3 = ∠2 are also vertical angles.
