Kalei is 6ft tall and stands 10 feet from a tree. He measures an angle if elevation of 30° up to the coconuts on the tree. How high are the coconuts? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Answer:

The total height of coconut Tree = H + 10ft = 11.77 ft

Explanation:

Given as,

The height of Kalei = 6ft

The distance of Kalei from the coconut Tree = 10 feet

Angle of elevation of kalei up to the coconut on tree = 30°

From figure it is mention that

Total height of Tree = 6 ft + H

So, Tan 30° =
(perpendicular)/(base)

Tan 30° =
(H)/(10)

∴ H = 10 Tan 30° = 10 × 0.577 Note : tan 30° = 0.577

i.e H = 5.77 ft

Hence the total height of coconut tree = 6 + 5.77 = 11.77 ft Answer
