Answer:

As a result of the America war, the United states was recognized as an imperial power, since it resulted in more territorial gains. The war consequently weakend Spanish domination in America.

Step-by-step explanation:

Prior to the war, the United States and Spain agree to make Cuba an independent country in January 1'st 1898. However, America declared war on Spain on April 25 1898, as a result of the Us's failure of seizing control over the independence in Cuba. The war extended world wide, prominently in Puerto Rico. The United States landed there on July 1st and found Spanish military opposition. The war was short lived, however, since the Spanish signed a treaty, surrendering Puerto Rico and the West indies to the US, in exchange for 20 Million dollars. Later the United states managed to land on Cuba without seizing control over the country. This 10 day war shifted the balance of power from Spain, who occupied key spots in Cuba and Puerto Rico, to The United States. Thus the US was considered an established imperial power.
