Why does sex-linked traits show up more often in males than females?

Answer and Explanation:

The X chromosome contains many genes in addition to those that determine sex. The traits determined by these genes are inherited together with those determining sex and are said to be sex-linked.

Most of the sex-linked characteristics are carried by the X chromosome. It therefore follows that a recessive sex-linked gene carried by the X chromosome will always express itself phenotypically in the male because males have only one X chromosome.
