depending on salinity/salt amounts. but water currents go vertically

Answer:

Density currents are those currents that result from density differences. These currents are started by those currents that flow along the bottom of oceans or lakes in nature. Most density currents are formed deep in the ocean. But if we talk about direction of currents then the density currents move vertically.
