used these words to describe the fish? What effect does it have on you as a reader?

Answer - The use of old spoons and caramel give the reader a visual view of color. Old spoons are rusty and caramel is candy with a distinctive brown color. When I hear old spoons and caramel I think of a rusty color. This Sexton uses this to allow the reader to visualize how the fish would look and get a person view of the world that the narrator sees. In the next line Sexton states that the sun is coming down which would also give us another aspect of the story that the sun is shining down onto fish which are giving them their auburn type color. It affect me as a reader, because rather than just reading the story, I can experiencing some of these events first hand and get to have a personal connection to the story.

I HOPE THIS HELPS & GOOD LUCK.
