Explanation:

angles 1 and 2 are equal because the entire angle is bisected

so, 5x - 2 = 4x + 4

x - 2 = 4

x = 6

If you substitute 6 into each expression, they should be equal:

4(6) + 4 = 5(6) - 2

24 + 4 = 30 - 2

28 = 28
