Enzymes are proteins functioning as catalysts that speed up reactions by lowering the activation energy. The definition of enzyme is that it is a biological catalyst. a catalyst is a chemical that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being changed with the reaction.

Hello there,

The reason Enzymes are considered a catalyst is because Enzymes catalyze biochemical reactions.

Enzymes which are proteins that control the speed of Chemical reactions in your body. With out them, The chemical reactions would take place Very slowly to keep you alive.

Hope this helps
