The Democrats won the presidency due to the split in the Republican Party” is the statement that best describes the impact of the election of 1912.

Answer: Option B

Explanation:

Although Theodore Roosevelt was a really close friend of William Howard Taft, the friendship faded after Taft won the Presidential election. Taft came up with policies and ideologies which was opposing some people. This leads to a creation of a rift amidst the Republicans, eventually leading to the creation of a group of people called “Republic Insurgents”.

Due to Taft’s popularity growing at an alarming rate, the Republic Insurgents approached Roosevelt to compete in the elections, which lead to the formation of the Progressive Party (also known as Bull Moose Party). Under this banner, Roosevelt competed against Taft and Woodrow Wilson- the Democratic Party candidate.
