Answer: 1/2

Explanation:

So she gives 4 children 1/8 of a cake each, how much cake did she give away.

She gave 1/8 to the first kid. Add the 1/8 she gave to the second kid. Add the 1/8 she gave to the third kid and add the 1/8 she gave to the fourth kid.


(1)/(8) + (1)/(8) + (1)/(8) + (1)/(8)

STOP READING IF YOU THINK YOU CAN SOLVE IT FROM HERE.

Then you can check your answer below.

Since the bottom number on all of the fractions is the same you can just add the top numbers.

You get 4/8. 4/8 is equal to a half so she gives them 1/2 a cake in all.

If you want to know how I got a half:

The fraction 4/8. Both numbers are divisible by 4 so if we divide them we get 1/2.
