I need help a soon as possible, i have to write an essay about the friendship of two main characters in the novel setting free the kites and ive read it and re read it and looked at review after video after review and im sitting here thinking im not reading the same book because everybody else is talking about heartache and tears and i see none of that. i am genuinely at a loss for what the hell people are getting out of this book ITA MADNESS I DONT SEE IT . to me its just two middle schoolers who get a job and have dead family members and go about their life. i could list of events and observations and diffrences but when im asked and i quote

"If we look at friendship as puzzle pieces, where a missing space in one is filled by the other, how do Robert and Nathan fill the spaces for each other where something is missing?"

i just come up blank. if theirs anybody who knows what im not getting about this book please tell me. anything is helpful at this point

SUMMARY OF THE BOOK : Setting Free the Kites tells the story of two teenagers, Robert Carter and Nathan Tilly, and the summers that mark turning points in their lives. The boys are unlikely friends: Robert is cautious, reticent, an observer; Nathan is curious, daring, and an eternal optimist.

Imagine yourself as a kite and someone cutting the twine and being set free. Untethered; the wind gently swaying you up. This is a quiet get under your skin never going to forget kind of a story of friendship between 2 teenage boys. His characters are heartbreakingly real and full of emotion - sadness, happiness and peaceful acceptance. This is a story Of letting go of the things

i hope this helped some :)
