ANSWER:

Two lines intersect to form a linear pair with equal measures.The values of x and y are 10, 19.

SOLUTION:

Given, two lines intersect to form a linear pair with equal measures.

One angle had 9x and other has (8y-62).

We need to find the values of x and y.

According to given information, angles are of equal measures.

9x = 8y – 62

9x – 8y + 62 = 0 ---- eqn (1)

We know that, sum of linear angles is 180. So the above equation becomes,

9x + 8y – 62 = 180

9x + 8y – 62 -180 = 0

9x + 8y -242 = 0 ----- eqn (2)

Now, add eqn (1) and (2)

18x + 0y -180 = 0

18x = 180

x = 10

Substitute x value in eqn (1)

9 x 10 – 8y + 62 = 0

8y = 90 + 62

8y = 152

y = 19

Hence, the values of x and y are 10, 19.
