Chantal was eating raisins and a few of them fell into her glass of drinking water. She finished eating the rest of the raisins. When she went to dump out the water in her glass, she observed that the raisins had become swollen. Why would this have happened?

Answer:

The answer to the raisin question is B. When a raisin is put in water, the water passes through the semipermeable membrane and causes it to swell.
