well i think its important becus they need to know there readers to give them to read what they like so they sell more

The whole point of newspapers is to be read. If no one is reading their newspapers, they make no money.

Therefor, it is important for the newspaper company to understand the background information known so that they can sell their newspapers to readers. If the readers do not understand the newspaper, they will be less likely to buy it because they will not find it interesting.
