Well the 3 before the parenthesis has to multiply to the 4x and the 5.

3(4x + 5) turns into 12x + 15

Now we want to get "x" by it self so

12x + 15 = 3x turns into

9x + 15 = 0 then we move the 15 over to the other side

9x = -15

Divide:

-15 / 9 = - 1.66666666667
