A hiker was walking on a mountainous trail. The hiker began at an elevation of 450 feet above sea level, and then ascended 120 feet toward the top of the mountain. What was the hikers new position ?

570 feet above seal level

Explanation:

The hiker was at 450 ft above sea level. He ascended 120 feet toward the top of the mountain (or goes up). 450+120 = 570. Therefore his new position is 570 feet above sea level!
