Answer: The right answer is Lord Elgin (1766-1841).

Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that even though the Parthenon had been plundered for centuries, it was in 1803 when the first portion—and a very significant one—of its statuary was shipped to London by the nobleman Thomas Bruce (more famously known as Lord Elgin), the former British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Lord Elgin based his action on a decree signed by the Ottoman sultan Selim III, which allegedly allowed him and his team of artists to not only access the building, but also to remove what was of special interest to them and send it to England.
