Answer: Theory X and Y refers to the two forms of managers.

Explanation: Theory X managers carries pessimistic approach towards their subordinates. They assume that the employees working under their authority are irresponsible and do not like to work. Thus, these managers usually keep strict monitoring over the performance of their subordinates.

On the other hand, Theory Y managers keeps optimistic view and constantly encourage their employees to improve their skills by self regulation and self control.
