Answer:

Giant Impact Theory: The Moon was formed from the collision between Earth and another Mars sized body

Colliding planetesimal Hypothesis: The Moon was formed from collisions and combining of planetesimals

Capture Hypothesis: The Moon was locked into orbit by Earth's gravity as it was passing by it

Accretion Hypothesis: The Moon was formed from the same cloud of material as Earth

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the scientists the accepted theories of Lunar formation are given below:

1. Giant Impact Theory: As per this theory a Mars sized object named Theia had hit the planet Earth and a huge chunk of Earth was left to float in space which later formed the Moon. Since Moon is moving away from Earth and its rocks are quite similar to that of Earth, this is the most widely accepted theory of all.

2. Capture Hypothesis: As per this theory the Moon was formed somewhere else and it got captured in to Earth's orbit because of its gravity as it passed by Earth.

3. Accretion Hypothesis: As per this theory the Moon and Earth formed at the same time from the same cloud of material.

4. Colliding planetesimal Hypothesis: As per this theory a lot of small rocky objects called as planetesimals collided and combined over a large period of time to form the Moon.
