Answer:

The percentage increase in Spencer’s height is 125 %

Solution:

\begin{array}{l}{\text { Percentage increase }=\frac{\text { change in height }}{\text { initial height }} * 100 \%} \\\\ {\text { percentage increase }=\frac{\text { increased height - initial height }}{\text { initial height }} * 100 \%}\end{array}

Initial height of spencer = 28 inches

Increased height of spencer = 5 feet 3 inches

= 5 feet + 3 inches

(5 feet = 5 ×12=60 inches)

= 60 + 3

\begin{array}{l}{\text { Increased height }=63 \text { inches }} \\ {\text { Percentage increase }=(63-28)/(28) * 100 \%} \\\\ {=(35)/(28) * 100 \%} \\\\ {=1.25 * 100 \%} \\ {\text { percentage increase in height of spencer }=125 \%}\end{array}
