Hence, it keeps the digestive system healthy and problems like constipation are avoided. In long term it helps to maintain a healthy blood pressure and reduces the risk of obesity, heart problems, diabetes etc.

Recommended daily fiber intake is 25-35 grams. 70 grams is the limit of fiber intake after which it will have adverse effects. Consuming too much fiber can lead to stomach cramps, bloating, nausea etc. It can also lead to poor absorption of nutrients like Calcium, Zinc or Iron because they bind to the fiber which interferes with their absorption.
