Explanation:

2(x-5) = 3(x+2) - 4(x-2)

Get rid of the parentheses by multiplying the outside numbers by the inside numbers

2x-10 = 3x+6 - 4x-8

Simplify terms

2x-10 = -x+14

Add x to both sides

3x-10 = 14

Add 10 to both sides

3x = 24

Divide both sides by 3

x = 8
