You may remember that the area of a triangle is A=12B⋅H, where B is the base of the triangle and H is the height. Suppose that the area of a triangle is 288 square feet, and the base is 4 times the height. Find the base of the triangle, in feet.

Answer:

Base =48 feet

Explanation:

1)

A =(1)/(2)*b*h \\ b=4h\\ \\288=(1)/(2)*4*h^(2)\\576=4h^(2) :4\\ h^(2) =144\\ h=12

Inserting h=12 into that relation b=4h

b=4*12\\ b=48

Proof:

A=(1)/(2)* 48*12\\ A=288 ft^(2)
