It is essential for each and every one to consume these seven nutrients on a daily basis in order to assist in the development of the body and to maintain adequate health.

Carbohydrates are considered as the energy providing foods. They offer us energy in the form of calories, which is needed by the body to perform activities and to support other functions. They are required in huge concentrations by the body. They are the main source of fuel for the body. For proper functioning of CNS, kidneys, brain, and muscles the body needs adequate amount of carbohydrates. The prime sources of carbohydrates are rice and potato.

Approximately 10 to 35 percent of the calories come from protein. They are needed in the diets for growth and to better the functions of the immune system. They also play an essential function in preparing important enzymes and hormones and in the repair of tissues. The prime sources of proteins are meats and soybeans.

Fats are the concentrated energy sources and are essential nutrients for young children who require ample amount of energy. Fats also make meals satisfying and tasty. The prime sources of fats are cooking oil and milk products.

Water is essential for life, the water is required for the body to produce cells and fluids. For maintaining the lining of the mouth, eyelids, intestine, and lungs wet and healthy.

Fiber refers to a mixture of various carbohydrates that are not digested like other nutrients, however, they get passed through the gut. Fiber helps in making the feces soft and bulky, which prevents constipation.
