So i'm doing this in school too. This is how I would do it.

She has 3/4 lb. of almonds, and she needs to split it with 6 friends.

So what you would do is do 3/4 ÷ 6/1

To divide one fraction by another, invert (turn upside-down) the second fraction, then multiply. Cancelling by a common factor of 3 gives 1 /8.
