Large Number Calculation

The average household uses 6 bags of sugar per household per month. Each bag of sugar weighs 4 pounds. Assume that that there are 2 people in each household on average and that the US population is 304 million.

Round answers to three significant digits except last answer
Example: 450,543,929 becomes 4.51E8 whre 4.51 is the significant digits.

How many pounds of sugar does the US consume per month?

There are 2 more questions to this that I also need help on, but I have to get through this one first

Answer:

3.65×10⁹ lbs/month, or 3.65 billion*

Explanation:

(6\,bags)/(1\,household\cdot month)\cdot(4\,lbs)/(1\,bag)\cdot(1\,household)/(2\,people)\cdot(3.04\cdot 10^8\,people)/(1\,US)\\\\=(6\cdot 4\cdot 3.04\cdot 10^8\,lbs)/(2\,US\cdot month)\approx 3.65\cdot 10^9\,\text{lbs/month for US population}

_____

10⁹ = 1 billion in "short scale" countries such as the US
