So, let's start with the inequality:
x < 5 since it's something that has a value. This just means that x is less than 5... but in our compound inequality it's very important, since the other inequality is:
x > c,

so if we were to say:
c=5, then we would have the compound inequality:
5 < c < 5 and there is no value that would satisfy this inequality, because what value is between 5 and 5?
