Civil service examinations initiated in China by the Sui dynasty (581-618 CE). Afterward, it was greatly developed during the Qing dynasty. Throughout the Qing period, the system played a vital role in government, education, and society.
Even the youngest of the poorest families could join theoretically with the developed elite( (successfully passing a system process). The certainty of the exam's success, which depended solely on the skills of one person and not on their social status.
Thereby, it contributed to Confucianism(traditional) ideas like rituals, integrity, relationships and so on at all levels of Chinese society.
