Point M is the midpoint of AB. The coordinates of point A are (−6, 1) and the coordinates of M are (−2, 2). What are the coordinates of point B?

B (2,3)

Explanation:

First you need to find the distance between the x and y component of A and M. Since M is the midpoint of AB then 2 times the distance from AM added back to the x and y components of A should get you the coordinates of B.

AM= ((-2-(-6)),(2-1))

=(abs 4, abs 1)

= positive four units change in the x and one unit in y

= 2 times is 8 units for x and 2 for y

B (-6 + 8, 1+2)
