4x = 3x + 6 ( subtract 3x from both sides )

x = 6

then

∠ EDF = ∠ BAC , that is

8y + 2 = 6y + 12 ( subtract 6y from both sides )

2y + 2 = 12 ( subtract 2 from both sides )

2y = 10 ( divide both sides by 2 )

y = 5

then

∠ EDF = 8y + 2 = 8(5) + 2 = 40 + 2 = 42°
