Explanation:

f(x) reads "the function at the value of x". If we are looking at f(2) we are looking at "the function at the x-value of 2". Therefore, f(2) is

f(2) = 3(2) - 1

f(2) = 6 - 1

f(2) = 5

Likewise,

f(0) = 3(0) - 1

f(0) = 0 - 1

f(0) = -1

So f(2) - f(0) is

5 - (-1) which comes out to 6
