While men were away at war, it allowed women independence to work show show. They had to step up and join the work force to keep the country running.

The military was integrated so white men had to work with black men. Before war, white people had a prejudice against black people. Because they had to work with each other on the battle field, the white perception of blacks had changed a little bit. Not much though.
