A popular store is having a strange sale on summer shorts. They charge $5 to enter the store and then each pair of shorts you buy is only $3!

Write an explicit function to represent this situation where s is the number of shorts and Cs is the total cost. (4.1)

a. C1 = 5 and Cs = 5 + 3s

b. Cs = 5 + 3s

c. Cs = 3 + 5s

d. C1 = 5 and Cs = 5 + 3(s-1)

Answer:

B. Cs = 5 + 3s

Explanation:

This is because of the placement. That is all there is to it really. 5$ is a singular cost to enter the store while the 3$ will be multiplied by S amount of shorts. Adding these two costs will get the total cost or as shown by the equation, Cs.
