Someone who is not familiar with the euphemism you are using may not look beyond the literal meaning, and thus would get the wrong idea about what is going on and be confused. Sometimes, euphemisms are purposefully used to confuse the reader, usually to mask the more negative aspects of a situation; for example, when Publicis Groupe's Starcom MediaVest Group fired eighty people and referred to it as a 'talent calibration'.
