Then, we subtract
\frac {3} {2} from both sides of the equation:


\frac {3} {2} - \frac {3} {2} + b = \frac {7} {4} - \frac {3} {2}\\b = \frac {7} {4} - \frac {3} {2}\\b = \frac {14-12} {8}\\b = \frac {2} {8}\\b=(1)/(4)
