This is a quadratic equation. You have to factor it.

You have to find two numbers that meet the following requirement:

-When multiplied, is equal to -18.

-When added, is equal to 3.

The two numbers are 6 and -3.

Now factor it:

(x + 6)(x - 3)

So x = -6 or x = 3
