The answer is 60 g.

The volume of the tile would be :

Volume = Mass ÷ Density

  • Volume = 100 g ÷ 2.5 g/cc
  • Volume = 40 cc

Therefore, water displaced is equal to the volume of tile :

  • 100 cc water weighs 100 g
  • Hence, 40 cc water weighs 40 g

Hence, the weight of the tile in water :

  • 100 g - 40 g
  • 60 g
