x−y=80

3/5 = y/x

Multiply the second equation by x

3/5 x = y/x *x

3/5 x = y

Substitute this into the first equation for y

x-y =80

x - 3/5x = 80

2/5 x = 80

Multiply each side by 5/2 to isolate x

5/2 *2/5x = 80 *5/2

x = 200
