Explain the proper use of commas to separate elements in a series

The proper use of commas is to seperate something that is not exactly that important from all the important stuff in a story, like here is a quote from a story i made:

Although Bluestream was funny, he had a weird way of showing his silliness, he isn't funny at simple tricks like slipping on mango peels.

Another proper way is to list things like this:

Bird-wolves have feathers, fur, wings, feathers on their heads, feather tails, and a wolf tail that is seperate, and bird-like claws on their claws.

Please do not copy my story stuff

Hope this helps/helped!
