cos θ = Adjacent/Hypotenuse

From the question:

θ = 23°

Adjacent = The distance of the fisherman from shore = 58 ft

Hypotenuse = The distance of the fisherman from the bird = x ft

Hence:

Cos 23 = 58/x

Cross Multiply

Cos 23 × x = 58

x = 58/Cos 23

x = 63.00890189 ft

Approximately = 63 ft

The distance of the fisherman from the bird is 63 ft
