According to The Great Gatsby, what is the distinction between East and West Egg? How does one "bridge the gap" between the two?

The West Egg is home to the new rich people those who are not born into money (new money) , while neighboring East Egg is people with old money meaning that its money that has been passed generation to generation . the only way to be accepted in the East Egg is to be born into it.
