Answer:

c = 11

Explanation:

If (x + 1) is a factor of p(x) then x = - 1 is a root and

p(- 1) = 0, hence

c
(-1)^(4) + 2(- 1)² - 13 = 0

c + 2 - 13 = 0

c - 11 = 0 ( add 11 to both sides )

c = 11
