Martha places a triangle at (5,2) on a coordinate plane. If she wants to place a square 7 points away, what might be the coordinates of the square?

Answer with explanation:

Coordinates of vertices of triangle = (5,2)

She want to place a Square 7 pints away, following can be the vertices of Square

⇒If Horizontal shift of 7 unit has taken place in right , then coordinate of one vertex of square will be = (5+7, 2)=(12,2)

⇒If Horizontal shift of 7 unit has taken place in left , then coordinate of a vertex of square will be = (5-7, 2)=(-2,2)

⇒If Vertical shift of 7 unit has taken place in upward direction , then coordinate of one vertex of square will be = (5, 2+7)=(5,9)

⇒If Vertical shift of 7 unit has taken place in downward direction, then coordinate of one vertex of square will be = (5, 2-7)=(5,-5)

The coordinates of the vertices of square can be, (12,2),(-2,2), (5,9) and (5,-5) when a square is placed 7 points away from the vertices of triangle which is at , (5,2).
