35 POINTS PS HELP ME In Act II, Scene 3, of The Diary of Anne Frank, Mrs. Frank has awoken to discover Mr. Van Daan stealing food from the pantry. A heated argument ensues, revealing behaviors in some characters that we have not seen up to this point. Consider the following quote from this scene: “We don’t need the Nazis to destroy us. We are destroying ourselves.” In your journal, identify the speaker of this quote, discuss its meaning, and explain whether or not you agree with it. Use examples from the play to support your point of view. Your response should be about 150 words.

When Mr. Frank says, "We don't need the Nazis to destroy us We are destroying ourselves", he means they are destroying their relationships by arguing. They should not let food get between them because all they have is each other to lean on now. I agree with this because they do not know how long they will be there together. They need to get along. Somebody might hear them arguing and they do not want to get caught. They have to be quiet during the day so arguing would only make that more difficult. I'm sure going into hiding was difficult emotionally already and add having to worry about other people stealing food. They should divide everything evenly and agree not to go behind each other's backs. Everyone needs to agree on what happens while they are in hiding together. If they got caught by something they did they would never forgive each other.

Explanation:The character that might have said this quote was the father of Anne Frank Otto Frank. In his statement I think he meant that if we keep bickering and arguing we are going to bring ourselves to destruction which basically means we are the true enemies to ourselves.I do agree with this statement because Mr.Frank was kind of like the glue in the Secret Annex whenever it started to get heated up he cooled it down.So I know he knows what he is doing.
