we have

BE=ED


BD=3*2=6\ units


AC=AE+10

In the right triangle AEB

Applying the Pythagoras Theorem find AE


AE^(2)=5^(2)-3^(2)


AE^(2)=16


AE=4\ units

Find AC


AC=4+10=14\ units

Find the area of the kite


A=(1)/(2)(14*6)=42\ units^(2)
