One out of nine high school students have their own car and drives them to school on daily basis. On a certain day, 1,080 students shows up for school. What is the rough estimate one can assume the number of cars is parked in the student's parking lot using the above-mentioned ratio?

Answer:

An estimate of 120 cars will be parked.

Explanation:

We can easily solve this problem by applying a rule of three

1 student with car ------------------------------------------- 9 students

x -------------------------------------------------------------- 1080 students

x = 1*(1080/9)

x = 120 students with car

An estimate of 120 cars will be parked.
